My Favorite Authors

These guys are each in my Hall of Fame for devoting their life’s work to giving us a blueprint for behavior in their respective areas. I think each were driven by a passion for their message, and all the research I’ve seen supports the validity of their work.

I own multiple books, CD’s or mp3’s from each of them, they are among the leading sources for the information I’ve acquired over the years, and their influence relating to personal development and setting and achieving goals is evident throughout this site.

David Schwartz: “The Magic of Thinking Big”
I’m a little reluctant to lead with Mr. Schwartz’ classic because I imagine most people are already aware of it, but it’s my favorite personal development reference so here it is. If you are not familiar with it, this is the place I encourage (strongly encourage) anyone who is interested in beginning a journey of personal development to start.

Dr. David Schwartz was a professor at Georgia State University, and this book helped straighten out so many misdirected ideas and habits I had that I think it’s more responsible for the changes in my professional life than anything else I’ve read.

The Magic of Thinking Big is written in a simple, easy to read style, but don’t underestimate the value of the content. It’s enduring popularity are
testament to the quality of the message.

Brian Tracy: “Eat That Frog”, “21 Success Secrets of Self-Made Millionaires”
(Haven’t forgotten it, just haven’t got this section finished yet.)

Napoleon Hill: “The Keys to Success”
In my opinion, this is as clear, concise and comprehensive a document about the actual elements of success as I’ve read. And I include Mr. Hill’s great “Think and Grow Rich” in that comparison. I have other favorites that cover other specific topics, but I know of nonebetter than this for getting right to the point in simple, easy to understand terms. And when you get it, don’t read it once. Read it twice if you’re serious about your success. No kidding.

Seth Godin (Marketing)
Seth Godin is a well know, well respected Marketing expert. If your technology savy, you’re probably well aware of his good work. He earned an MBA from Stanford University, and started the very successful Squidoo web site in 2006. He is the author of the best selling “Purple Cow”, and one of my favorites “The Dip” which points out the essential nature of consistency of direction and effort (with an interesting take on when it’s smart to quit things, too). Seth is obviously a very smart guy, and I’m happy to read the words of smart people anytime I get a chance.

Oh yeah, he’s got one of the must-read blogs for anyone interested in marketing here.
