Success Rate
According to Wikipedia, recent research shows that while 52% of participants in a resolution study were confident of success with their goals, only 12% actually achieved their goals.

Men achieved their goal 22% more often when they engaged in goal setting, a system where small measurable goals are used (lose a pound a week, instead of saying “lose weight”), while women succeeded 10% more when they made their goals public and got support from their friends.

My research shows they didn’t come to AchievingPersonalGoals.com before they started working toward their goal! And notice how many of the goals listed above followed even the most basic rules of goals? Not very many.

Summary of key points:

  1. Alot of people pursue similar goals
  2. Unless they get assistance or specific techniques, only 12% of people achieve their goals.
  3. 22% of men reached their goals when they engaged in goal setting, even without using the proven techniques and resources described here
